~Lisa
Koch was a creative and versatile clay artist who made her home in
Steamboat Springs, CO. As a teen, she lived in South America, where she
experienced pre-Colombian art and Latin art. Later influences in her artistic
development came from the Appalachian folk potters of the South. She earned
her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in ceramics from the University of Georgia,
where she also received a scholarship to study art in Italy. The forms
Lisa creates derive from landscapes and the natural environment. She utilizes
overlapping glazes as well as wax resist; many of her pieces sparkle with
touches of gold and copper. Lisa passed away on August 14, 2007 - she
will be greatly missed.
