Please meet
Barbara Gregoire ~ Summer Breeze Pottery
The
swirling colors of windblown sandstone and the brazen shapes of rust colored
lichen inspire my pottery. The texture of tree trunks and their dendrite
branches reaching toward the sun, remind me that nature is the essence
of our existence. These patterns give my pottery vitality, but it is as
if the clay has its own attitude beneath my hands as the shapes emerge.
My Woodware teapots and casserole
dishes are an after effect of years of photographing trees. The Modernglyphic
bowls are the outcome of my doodling with liquid clay in a squirt bottle!
Modernglyphics is my term created probably because
I am so captivated by Native American rock art
my version!
I create functional and decorative pieces
in both high and low fire flames. Clay is a material of all life times,
coming from the ground and linking today with long ago. The process of
creating pottery is quite elemental, yet so magical. As I combine water,
earth and fire my pieces hint of nature while evoking a smile from their
appearances. With a whimsical splash of color and a humorous attitude,
I want others to feel the comfort-giving qualities of my simple yet intricate
art forms.
